In California a law is trying to be passed to make Wicca and other minority religions 2nd class. They argue these religions are unworthy of the freedom and protection they have. What this means is that if the motion is passed pagans in California could be fired from their jobs for their beliefs, children could be taken from parents, covens would be disbanded, and public practice would be illegal.
